[For Thomas] [Modern AU] The Retreat
The retreat had gone perfectly so far. It had been reserved at a scenic mountain resort, so outside it was cold but inside was perfectly warm and cozy.
Thomas Boleyn had only attended a few of the scheduled events, leaving Anne and George in charge of the majority of the events. There was a little cocktail party scheduled that evening - by Anne, of course - semi-formal, the men were wearing nice suits while the ladies wore dresses. Anne herself was wearing a black dress with a see-through lace back to show off her slender back. She was sipping champagne as the evening began drawing to a close.
Anne hadn't been openly avoiding Thomas, but she hadn't pursued his company either. She didn't want to tip off her brother or father that they'd been seeing each other. It hadn't been anything heavy or particularly intimate - since they'd met up at the bar that evening they'd gone out on a dinner or two. But they hadn't crossed the sexual line just yet.
Though it was getting more and more difficult to suppress the urges she felt while he was around.
Seeing him tonight in a nice jacket and tie made it even more difficult - Anne had to drink a little more to keep her desire under control. But it was obvious from the dress she wore that she was trying to spark the same desire in him. Anne sipped her champagne for another moment before she spied Thomas in the crowd. After a moments' hesitation she approached him cordially.
"Mr. Wyatt, so good to see you - tell me, how have you been enjoying the events so far?" She asked.

After a moments' hesitation she approached him cordially.
"Mr. Wyatt, so good to see you - tell me, how have you been enjoying the events so far?" She asked.

"It's okay to be speechless sometimes. I don't want to waste words for nonsense," he explained sleepily. "Not that I think loving you is nonsense. Quite the contrary." To prove that he nuzzled closer. It wouldn't take long before his mind had sailed to the land of dreams.
no subject
"You'll stay, will you not?" She didn't want him to, nor did she expect him to leave. But she wanted to be sure. "Please...stay with me..."
Soft and warm beneath her covers. In her arms wrapped up tight.

That went a step further of what she was asking. Wyatt was not only thinking of tonight, he was thinking of the future. All because he was rather emotional at the moment. He knew that she was at his reach but still so far away.
"I just... I mean, you should know what you'd be getting into... if... never mind. Too soon for that. This is good."
It was hard not to get his hopes up when she held him so tight. It had been some time since Wyatt had felt this contented.

His stammering makes her chuckle and push her fingers through his damp locks. "No, go on," she insisted. They'd been seeing each other for a while now; short of a marriage proposal she didn't think anything was too soon. "Tell me."
She leaned into him, sighing again, just as content and happy as he. Anne had been with men while away at University in France, but none had made her so happy as she was now.

He reached for Anne's hand to kiss the fingertips. "So yeah, that would be my desire. If you considered it, I'd wait until you'd feel comfortable, though. Nothing to lose, after all."
Then he did chuckle and gave her a light kiss. "Unless you were just using me tonight."

"Things may be complicated now, but they won't always be so," Anne pointed out, verbalizing her hope. "If you permit me, I would indeed love to see something...more solid between us."
She smirked at his teasing and returned his light kiss, nuzzling the tip of her nose against his. "I might have further use of you, Thomas Wyatt. I don't think one night is enough to satisfy me."
no subject
"That's all I ask. And just so you know, I don't want to lie to anyone exactly. I only hope to keep a low profile first so that you won't be caught in the middle of something nasty."
Wyatt hid a yawn behind his palm. "But that's a talk for another day. Meanwhile I'm content to be your toyboy, or at least a pillow for tonight."
no subject
But he was right - that was talk for another day.
"You are far more than my toy," she smiled as she nuzzled against his neck. "So much more."
But fatigue was settling in and she was having difficulty keeping her eyes open. She mumbled some semblance of 'good night' before she began to drift off to sleep.

Wyatt slept soundly even though he woke up a few times during the night. New morning brought about voices from the hallway. Those voices mingled with his dreams but did not wake him up yet.

She groaned in soft protest when morning came and the sun broke through her curtains. Anne was unwilling to call an end to the evening, no. She wanted him a bit longer. She knew soon enough George would call her room to summon her to go over the final details for the day's events. But rather than get up and prepare herself, she buried her face against his chest and mumbled softly.
"Oh, sun - go away..."

As a father, Wyatt was no stranger to busy mornings. He was used to jumping up from bed as soon as he got his eyes open - and sometimes even before that. This was not one of those mornings but neither was it a private getaway for just the two of them. They only had a moment.
A moment in which he could recite her a poem for the first time. Wyatt took a breath and began quietly and without any inclination that he was about to do so.
"A mornings then when I do rise,
I turn unto my wonted guise,
All day after muse and devise
What means this?
And if perchance by me there pass
She unto whom I sue for grace,
The cold blood forsaketh my face.
What means this?"
The poem had three more verses and he whispered them all out one by one.

"My poet...even at the earliest hour, still so eloquent. If only we could stay here forever..." she whispered.
Slowly she sat up, letting the covers fall from her bare body. She looked at Thomas for a long while before she finally spoke again. "Well, this is our last day in this little paradise, then back to business as usual," she teased. "Hopefully you'll still find me desirable then."

Wyatt held Anne's chin while she remained close and when she sat up, his hand fell down to her thigh to caress it. She looked so fine to him, with streams of light playing on her skin, and the soft smile on his face clearly showed this admiration. He did not try to hide the fact that his eyes wandered lower. If she didn't want him to look at her - all of her - she surely would have covered herself.
Unfortunately he couldn't spend the rest of the day looking at her. With a sigh Wyatt got up so that their faces were again just inches apart.
"How could I not? You seem to be doing what you can to ensure that," he replied to the notion of finding her desirable. "When I'll see you in the office, I will remember you like this."

Her fingers came up to cup his jaw again as she leaned in for another kiss. She held that kiss for a long moment before pulling back. "We will be able to do this again, when we are back home, won't we?"
She didn't want to go home and pretend like nothing new had passed between them. As if this relationship hadn't evolved beyond what they'd had just before they'd arrived here, on this trip.

"Yes, but I thought it would be me to beg for more, not you," he grinned and rested a hand at the small of her back. There was a moment of silence during which he kissed her shoulder... and then he tipped her backwards on the bed again.
"What means this?" He hovered over her, searching for the explanation in her eyes. "If it means you truly are willing to put up with me and my crazy life, I will do my best to make you the happiest of... the most happy."
no subject
She was only too happy to lay back and let him rest atop her. What means this? Anne's eyes flickered from his eyes to his lips. She had no verbal answer, but hoped the answer was something more that they would feel than something that needed to be spoken.
"I am already the most happy. With you. Here," she leaned up and kissed him. "If only we could stop time, be left to our own devices, as you said."
no subject
He smiled and placed small kisses on her mouth, humming with joy. "My Anne. My Anne," he whispered. "I must leave you before I hear your father knocking on the door again."
He pushed himself up from the bed and looked around in search of his clothes. Oh, but they were in the bathroom where he'd got undressed last night. Wyatt glanced at Anne and disappeared from the room for a moment.
no subject
"I understand, my Thomas," she laughed softly as she sat up once he moved from the bed. "Mind George doesn't see you either - father is the first person he'd tell."
She watched with some amusement as he ducked into the bathroom. For a moment she just chuckled and relived the night before over and over again in her mind. Then she was up and getting dressed, for it was nearly time for breakfast and her father was expecting her.

He actually felt a little bashful coming back out again. Anne was getting dressed and ready for the day. He didn't know how he would ever manage to be in the same room with her without revealing his feelings to everyone. But he had to. They both had to.
"That was... the best. You're amazing. In every way," he said stepping in front of Anne and leaning in for a quick kiss. "Would you check that the road is clear?" He'd prefer Anne to peek out of her room first since there was no guarantee of who might be walking by.
no subject
"I could say the same for you," she smiled as she turned and started for the door. A quick peek outside showed that the hall was indeed clear. Anne nodded and gave him another quick kiss of her own. "Thank you again...it was a fantastic evening."
With that said, she let him go. Back to the charade of pretending they were coworkers and nothing more.
