((ooc: Open for anyone to tag, but beware the historical mindfuckery. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Is to rescue Anne Boleyn from the prison tower of Emperor Charles V in Spain.))



It seems the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V, was not content to sit idly by and let Henry VIII, King of England, mistreat his aunt. Catherine of Aragon, the unhappy queen, had been neglected and ignored by Henry since her miscarriage of their son. Henry grew angry, thinking his marriage cursed by God and had thus sought to create male heirs by his mistresses.

Though Anne Boleyn was different.

She had refused his advances at first, to the chagrin of her father and uncle. Anne hadn't had interest in the king - and did not take to the idea of being referred to as "The Second Great Prostitute" like her sister, Mary. Still, after a while she had broken down and agreed to be the king's One True Mistress - though they had yet to share a bed. Still, that didn't stop Henry from pursuing a divorce from Catherine.

That's what had made Charles angry.

A few secret letters from Catherine told him the truth of how she had been mistreated by the king, and how he sought to divorce her in order to marry Anne Boleyn. Outraged, Charles had sent orders to his ambassador to take a few men with him and kidnap the queen and her ladies.

Kidnapping the queen and bringing her to Spain would free her from the king's cruelty. And, as Anne was a lady in waiting to the queen, she would also be captured, and Charles would be free to execute her in his realm. The charge: Treason against the queen of England.

So Anne was locked in the prison tower, awaiting her punishment. What would it be? Hanging? Drawn and quartered? Anne knew Catherine would want the slowest, most painful death imaginable for her...but Anne would not give the satisfaction of showing her fear. Even locked in the tower she remained strong and refused to cry.

But in her heart, she wondered: Where was her brother, George? Where was her father? Where was the king?

Would anyone rescue her?

Anne gives a faint sound, faking displeasure at his proclamation. But really, she knows he's right. So she keeps the kiss going for a moment or two longer.

"Later then?"

"Later." Unfortunately the secret spaces on this ship aren't like the secret spaces she knows about, and they're also not in a secret space right now.

"Fair enough," She admits. As long as she can steal a few moments here and there with him, that suits Anne just fine. "Come to me later then."

Anne steps back, back to proper space for a man and lady to be between them. "In the meantime, I don't suppose there are any books aboard that I could amuse myself with in my down time?"

"There are a few. There's the one I mentioned before, the one my mother used to read to me."

Anne's surprised - that he would take such an obviously treasured item along with him.

"I...I couldn't possibly take something so valuable, even just to borrow it."

"I'll see what else I can find then."

[happyfalcon]

"Don't think me ungrateful!" Anne suddenly realized how her refusal probably sounded. "I would never seek to damage it, but if something were to happen to it while the book was in my possession, I'd feel terrible."

"I know. I'll find you something."

[happyfalcon]

"Whatever you find, I would be most grateful," She smiles.

[seekingcrocodile]

"I'll be right back then." He goes into his cabin in search of something.

Anne waits patiently outside his cabin, not thinking it proper to follow him, especially not when they could get caught.

He comes back out with two choices. One of them is a history of Europe. The other one is a narrative of a sea voyage around tropical islands.

Of course Anne chooses the narrative. She takes a moment and flips through the pages before closing it again and smiling.

"Thank you, I shall return it to you by our journey's end."

[seekingcrocodile]

"Even if you don't, I know where to find you."

[happyfalcon]

"Indeed you do," Anne smiles, leaning up as if to kiss him again, but at the last moment she pauses and turns from him to wander on her own.

"See you soon."

Since she's going off on her own, he returns to the deck and his duties.

Anne goes to the deck as well, but finds a place near the railing to enjoy the sun and the breeze. She takes to reading the book he gave her, but every so often she puts it down just to enjoy the scenery.

He takes a break from tending to his duties to come over in her direction. "We're passing along the coast of France now."

She tries not to show her disappointment. Anne's in no hurry to get back to England.

"My, but this ship does travel fast! Surely there's no faster vessel in his majesty's navy," she smiles, electing to praise the ship.

[ooc: lol The ship that "plays" the Jolly Roger is the same one that "played" the Interceptor in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, which if I recall correctly, was the "fastest ship in the Caribbean." So I guess it is a fast ship!]

"We'll be at sea several days yet."

((ooc: Oh that's AWESOME lol! Finished season 1 btw and am into season 2 - Emma just fired her gun with ogres around, my friend and I both screamed at her in unison))

"I don't mind that at all, actually," Anne sighs, taking in a deep breath of the sea air. "I can see why you enjoy it so much."

[ooc: Yeah she does get a bit reactionary sometimes.]

"Just wait until you experience your first storm at sea. You may change your mind."

"Well, not everything can be ideal all the time," she glances back to the water. "But a view like this, would make enduring any storm worthwhile."

"The view is one of the perks of the job."

[happyfalcon]

"The water's so entrancing...silly question I'm sure, but do people fall overboard often?"
