[For Thomas] [Modern AU] Secret Holiday
Anne was bustling about her apartment, assembling some clothes and getting her travel bags together. They had been planning a trip for some time now, but even so the destination was a surprise still to her. Thomas hadn't told her what the final destination plan was for them. Anne packed her clothes, planning for warm and cool weather. It was a little frustrating, not knowing that to pack exactly, but overall it was exciting.
She had slipped Thomas her key before she'd left the office that day. Anne had followed up on a lead for a story earlier in the day and took the rest of the day as personal time. Then she had come home and began packing.
Anne had a pair of dresses on the bed before her, and she couldn't decide which to take. It was silly to take them both with her. One was black with red patterned flowers, the other white with blue patterned flowers. But she no only had her clothes to pack, but she had jewelry and shoes to pack as well. Oh, it was so hard to pack, not knowing what destination for which they were bound.
But it was so romantic, and she was excited to get ready and going. Of course she had to wait for Thomas. She couldn't wait for him to arrive. Anne had picked up a bottle of wine to celebrate their holiday plans. It had been tricky, planning their getaway without anyone putting two and two together. Anne had vacation time saved up and gave the rest of her tasks to George for the time they'd be gone. She wasn't sure how Thomas had managed to get his time off to match hers, but somehow they'd done it.

Anne nodded and stepped gracefully to the floor as Thomas ushered her from his lap. She plucked up her purse and started after him into the hall.
"You have a point, Boots does seem to have all those odds and ends one seems to forget when packing," she agreed.
As they moved from the hallway to the main sitting room, Anne grinned at his proclamation and leaned up to kiss his cheek.
"We are! Two fantastic weeks just you and I," she kissed him again. "No need for hiding or sneaking around."
no subject
"...yes, Heathrow Airport. Thank you," he finished the call before turning back to his seemingly willing hostage.
"If you take my handbag, I'll carry our suitcases."
There was just enough time to turn off all lights and make sure the door was locked. As they sat in the taxi, Wyatt held Anne's hand and just smiled. He didn't feel like talking much for some reason, not in front of the driver.
no subject
But she nodded when he asked her to carry the handbag. "Certainly," she agreed.
Anne picked up the handbag and her own purse and followed him downstairs after securing her apartment. Once they were in the taxi, Anne was just as content to enjoy the quiet, with her hand in his. She looked up to him and couldn't fight the smile that broke out across her face.

The traffic wasn't too congested so they arrived at the airport in good time. After getting his pay, the driver rushed to open the door for Anne and lifted their suitcase from the trunk. Wyatt fetched a trolley for their bags and then they were ready to find a check-in counter for the right airline.
"After we go through security, what do you want to do? You want to get a bite to eat, something to drink? Shopping?" Wyatt asked while they stood in the line with his hand wrapped around Anne's waist. "Time wise we're good. I wouldn't mind a cup of coffee."
no subject
As they exited the taxi, Anne thanked the driver and followed after Thomas with his bag and her purse. She thought on Thomas's question for a moment, letting her fingers lace with his as he held her hand.
"I think a coffee sounds good - maybe a muffin too. The flight might make us sleepy, and if you have plans for us afterwards we should be awake for them."
no subject
Not caring about onlookers he then brushed his lips quickly over hers. After showing their flight tickets at the check-in counter and leaving suitcases, Wyatt took his own handbag from Anne.
"The only plan I had for today was the dinner. We can go dancing afterwards if there's a club you want to show me, or we can just take it easy... go back to the hotel and order something from room service. Really, all I want is to be with you. Doesn't matter what we do."
They still had to walk through security before finding a nice cafe.
no subject
She thought about his options for a long moment before nodding her head a bit. "I think it would be good if we took it easy our first night," she pointed out. "Don't want to exhaust ourselves on holiday, after all. We'll get to the clubs soon enough." She smirked, thinking on the slinky green dress that she'd packed for just such an occasion, anxious for an excuse to wear it and go out dancing with Thomas.
no subject
Wyatt passed the security check with no problems and then he looked around to make note of the location of their gate, even if they didn't need to go there yet.
"All good? You know, I'm sorry we can't buy souvenirs," he said when they walked past a toy store. "Though I have to get something for Junior. Something neutral that doesn't scream overseas."
no subject
Anne also passed the security check without issues. Of course she'd had to remove her necklace and jewelry for the metal detector. As she put her rings and necklace back on, Anne stepped up beside Thomas again.
"I'm fine," she replied, biting her lower lip to think for a moment. "Where did you tell him you were going again? There are places in the French countryside we could visit and perhaps get him a gift there."
no subject
He frowned a little, but soon realized the situation was not that bad. "On the other hand, nobody is going to blink an eye if they hear you suddenly decided to go France. It's unlikely anyone thinks about us being gone at the same time and going 'oh, one plus one is two'."
They finally came to a cafe. Though crowded, they were able to find a table for two.
"Anyway, Junior is so young that he'll probably be more thrilled of an action man figure than anything that is considered a proper souvenir."
no subject
Anne smiled and gave his arm a squeeze. "No love, I'm not worried. I think this is one of those rare times when we're completely safe." Such times were rare indeed. "I'd like to get a present for Junior too, if it's all right? Something French because, as you said, no one would think much of me going abroad."
So badly she wanted him to like her. Anne knew that in the long run if Junior didn't like her, she and Wyatt would not be an item for very long.
no subject
Wyatt's son was more likely to accept Anne's presence if they were doing his favourite things.
"So, how much do you want to know about our travel plans? You'll definitely have a say in what we do but if you like a bit of mystery, I don't mind being secretive."
no subject
Anne considered his question for a moment before answering. "I think a few surprises would be romantic, but I would like to know how I should dress for the day - wearing flats versus heels, you understand. So I would like to know most of the plans, if that's all right?"
no subject
He moved his chair closer and reached out to lightly swipe his finger along Anne's chin. "Hmh... I can piggyback you, if a situation calls for it. As for keeping you completely clueless, that's not gonna work as I count on you to read the map when we drive out of Paris."
no subject
She blushed when he made that little gesture. It froze her just a bit, just for a moment. "Yes, I can hardly be a proper navigator if I don't know where we're going, now can I?" She smiled up to him.
no subject
Glancing around the cafe, Wyatt leaned away from her. Nobody was paying any more attention to them than they were paying attention to those sitting in the next table.
Soon. In about three... maybe three and a half hours they'd be at their hotel room in Paris.
"I need all the navigational help you can give. I don't have much experience with right-hand traffic. Did you drive when you lived there?"
no subject
For the moment, Anne didn't really care who saw. She should have had more caution, considering someone they knew could very well have been watching, for all she knew. But she didn't care, she was on her way to a romantic getaway with her beloved.
For a brief moment, all was right in the world.
"I drove a little - most places I frequented were in walking distance though, we'll see."
no subject
"We'll see," he grinned and kissed her right back. "Getting lost can be fun, too."
Wyatt finished his sandwich and cast a thoughtful look into his coffee cup.
"You know, I've only been to Paris for business purposes. I've never had anyone with me to do all the cheesy, romantic things that are associated with it. Eiffel Tower at night... Notre Dame... cobbled streets and secluded cafes that only you know about... I'm so blessed to have you," he smiled and rubbed Anne's arm.
"This is the first announcement to passengers travelling to Paris on flight..." Their getaway was definitely becoming a reality now.
no subject
Anne smiled at the thought of being lost in the streets of Paris, or anywhere in Europe for that matter, with Thomas. She nibbled an apple pastry as Thomas ate his sandwich, then glanced up as he spoke again. A light pink blush tinted her cheeks.
"I'm the one who's blessed..." she leaned into him a bit. "Everything seems so dull, before I met you. I look back on my memories, things I thought I enjoyed before I met you, and I realized that I would have much rather have shared those times with you. They would have been better with you."
Her life had been so black-and-white before. Thomas Wyatt had brought color and vibrance into her life. Really, he'd made her start actually living.
Anne glanced up when the announcement came over the PA system. Then she looked to Thomas, unable to fight the grin that flourished across her place. "That's us, right?"
no subject
They both had their past. He suspected Anne must have experienced her first crush, her first kiss and her first heartbreak in Paris. Wyatt had never asked about her previous relationships and he never would. Not because he was jealous but because she deserved to have her memories to herself. And what mattered now was that she'd turned into someone he loved beyond the photograph on her father's desk.
"That's us. Ready?" Smiling, Wyatt stole a piece of her pastry that was still left. They were not in a hurry but they might as well get seated in the plane.
"Are we going to have a fight about the window seat?" he teased.
no subject
Anne smiled and stood up anxiously, only giving him a playfully scolding look when he ate her pastry piece. "Ready, love." She replied as she reached out for his hand.
"Oh, there will be no fighting, I'm getting the window seat," she laughed.
no subject
Though it was a joke, he did feel pangs of jealousy from time to time.
The first people to get in were those with business class seats and those who travelled with little kids so that they'd have easier time settling down. Wyatt followed Anne as they were let into the cabin. When seated he couldn't help but kiss her again.
no subject
Anne was just as guilty of jealousy as Thomas. She didn't like having to pretend not to notice the women at the office flirting with him, and it did happen. But she tried not to let it get too far under her skin.
Anne settled into her seat and smiled when he kissed her. She brought a hand up to push through his hair as she kissed him back. "I love you so much."
no subject
To make things even, in a way, Wyatt sometimes had to attend functions where Henry Tudor circled around Anne, trying to make an impression. Wyatt hated seeing that but all he could do was to hope she didn't fall for that man.
"And I love you," he reciprocated the sentiment. He lifted up the armrest that was between their seats so that they could lean against each other better. Then he digged up a pack of gum from his bag.
"Do you want?" he asked, offering some for her. "I find it helps my ears, or maybe it's just a habit, really."
((ooc: You can timejump straight to Paris if you want or I might do that in my next tag.))
no subject
But for now, there was no Henry Tudor, no Thomas Boleyn nor any other women or suitors. It was just the two of them. Anne leaned into Thomas and took a stick of gum when offered and smiled her thanks.
Soon enough the Parisian skyline was visible. The moment Anne spied the Eiffel Tower, she tugged in Thomas's sleeve and pointed to the view. She couldn't contain her excitement. "Look, Thomas! We're here!" Anne grinned and stared out the window. It had been so long since she'd seen Paris.
